Head Maker / Workshop Lead

Location: Thameside Studios, Woolwich, SE London

Full Time

Working hours: 8:30–17:30

Salary: £38,000–£45,000 DOE

Pinfold Workshop creates bespoke, design-led furniture and cabinetry from our workshop in South-East London.

Our approach is material-led, combining traditional furniture-making skills with modern production methods. We work extensively with solid timber, specialist veneers and high-quality sheet materials, with a focus on thoughtful detailing, craftsmanship and longevity.

We are looking for an experienced and highly capable Head Maker / Workshop Lead to take ownership of day-to-day workshop production and help maintain an exceptional standard of craftsmanship as Pinfold grows.

This is a senior, hands-on role. You will be responsible for leading production across the workshop, managing workflow and overseeing other makers, while remaining closely involved in the making itself.

Making & Production

  • Manufacturing bespoke cabinetry, kitchens and furniture

  • Taking projects from technical drawings through to completion

  • Working across solid timber, veneers and high-quality sheet materials

  • Maintaining consistently high standards of workmanship and finish

  • Supporting installations where required

  • Overseeing final quality control and preparation for delivery or installation

Workshop Leadership

  • Work alongside the Founder, taking ownership of day-to-day workshop production and how Pinfold grows

  • Managing workflow, priorities and workshop organisation

  • Monitoring production schedules and ensuring deadlines are met

  • Developing efficient production methods and workshop processes

  • Ensuring machinery and equipment is well maintained and serviced

  • Maintaining a tidy, safe and efficient workshop environment

Requirements

  • Strong cabinet-making and furniture-making experience

  • Excellent knowledge of solid timber and timber properties

  • Experience working with veneers and high-quality sheet materials

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • Ability to read technical drawings and work independently

  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills

  • Confidence providing guidance and support to a junior maker

  • Self-driven, positive, practical and reliable attitude

  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience with veneering, laminating and curved work

  • CNC experience

  • Experience with specialist furniture finishes

  • Experience managing or mentoring other makers

  • Fitted furniture and installation experience
